Your Information
Privacy Policy.
This notice explains how Scooth Pet collects, uses, shares and protects personal information when you visit our store, place an order or contact us.
Last updated: 13 July 2026Our approach
Clear, careful and transparent.
We use personal information to operate our online store, fulfil purchases, support customers, keep the service secure and improve the shopping experience. We aim to collect only what is relevant for those purposes.
We explain our purposes
This notice describes the information we use, why we need it and the lawful bases we rely upon.
You remain in control
You can exercise your data protection rights and stop direct marketing whenever you choose.
We limit access
Information is shared only where needed for the store, legal compliance, security or another purpose described below.
1. Who we are
Scooth Pet operates the Scooth Pet online store and is the controller responsible for the personal information described in this notice, except where another organisation explains that it acts as a separate controller for its own processing.
You can contact us through our Contact page or by emailing scoothpet@gmail.com.
2. Scope of this notice
This Privacy Policy applies when you visit our website, browse products, create or use a customer account, place or attempt to place an order, subscribe to marketing, communicate with us, submit a review or otherwise interact with Scooth Pet.
Third-party websites, platforms and services have their own privacy practices. Their notices apply when you leave our website or interact directly with them.
3. Personal information we collect
Depending on how you interact with the store, we may collect:
- Identity information: your name, account username and similar identifiers.
- Contact information: billing and delivery addresses, email address and telephone number.
- Order and transaction information: products viewed or purchased, order value, delivery method, discounts, returns, refunds and transaction references.
- Payment-related information: payment status, payment method and limited card details supplied by a payment provider. Full card information is generally collected and processed directly by the payment provider rather than Scooth Pet.
- Account information: saved details, order history, account preferences and login-related information.
- Communications: messages, support enquiries, data protection requests, complaints, photographs and other material you choose to send us.
- Technical and usage information: IP address, browser, device type, operating system, pages viewed, links selected, referring page, session activity and approximate location derived from technical data.
- Marketing and preference information: subscriptions, consent records, cookie choices, campaign interactions and opt-out preferences.
- Fraud and security information: signals used to identify suspicious activity, protect accounts, prevent misuse and secure transactions.
4. Where personal information comes from
We may receive information:
- directly from you when you order, register, subscribe or contact us;
- automatically from your browser or device through cookies and related technologies;
- from Shopify and other technology providers that operate parts of our store;
- from payment providers, fraud-prevention services, fulfilment partners, delivery carriers and returns providers;
- from advertising, analytics and social-media partners, subject to your settings and applicable consent requirements;
- from publicly available sources or people authorised to communicate on your behalf, where lawful and relevant.
5. How we use information and our lawful bases
UK data protection law requires us to identify a lawful basis for each use of personal information. The basis depends on the purpose and context.
| Purpose | Information commonly used | Lawful basis normally relied upon |
|---|---|---|
| Provide products, process payment, fulfil and deliver orders | Identity, contact, order, transaction and payment-related information | Contract; steps taken at your request before entering a contract |
| Manage returns, refunds, cancellations and order enquiries | Identity, contact, order and communications information | Contract; legal obligation; legitimate interests in providing customer service and managing the business |
| Maintain accounts and store preferences | Identity, contact, account and usage information | Contract; legitimate interests in operating a convenient service |
| Prevent fraud, protect transactions and secure the website | Technical, transaction, account, fraud and security information | Legitimate interests in protecting customers and the business; legal obligation where applicable |
| Keep business, tax, accounting and legal records | Identity, contact, order, transaction and communications information | Legal obligation; legitimate interests in establishing, exercising or defending claims |
| Improve products, service, website performance and customer experience | Usage, technical, order, survey and communications information | Legitimate interests where the impact is limited; consent where required for the relevant technology |
| Send marketing and measure marketing performance | Contact, marketing preference, transaction, usage and campaign information | Consent; or legitimate interests and the electronic marketing “soft opt-in” where all legal conditions are met |
| Respond to rights requests and data protection complaints | Identity, contact, account, order and communications information | Legal obligation; legitimate interests in verifying identity and maintaining records |
| Business restructuring, sale or professional advice | Relevant business and customer records, limited where possible | Legitimate interests; legal obligation where applicable |
Legitimate interests. Where we rely on this basis, we consider the purpose, whether the use is necessary and whether your interests, rights or freedoms override our interests.
6. Who we share personal information with
We may share relevant information with organisations that help us operate the store and provide services, including:
- Shopify and providers of website hosting, ecommerce and store applications;
- payment processors, banks and payment-fraud screening providers;
- product sourcing, fulfilment, warehousing, delivery and returns partners;
- customer service, email, communications and cloud-storage providers;
- analytics, cookie-management, advertising and social-media partners;
- accountants, insurers, lawyers, auditors and other professional advisers;
- regulators, courts, law-enforcement bodies and public authorities where disclosure is required or lawfully requested;
- buyers, sellers, investors or advisers involved in a proposed or completed sale, transfer, reorganisation or financing of the business.
Service providers acting as processors are expected to use information only for authorised purposes and to apply appropriate protections. Some recipients may act as separate controllers and provide their own privacy information.
We do not sell personal information for money in the ordinary meaning of the word “sell”. We may, however, share limited information with advertising and analytics partners as described in this notice and according to your cookie choices.
7. International transfers
Scooth Pet uses ecommerce, technology, fulfilment and delivery providers that may process personal information outside the United Kingdom. This may occur when a provider, its affiliate or a subcontractor is based abroad, or when an order is fulfilled through an international supply chain.
Where UK transfer rules apply, we take steps designed to ensure that a lawful transfer mechanism is used. Depending on the destination and circumstances, this may include:
- UK adequacy regulations;
- approved contractual safeguards, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to approved contractual clauses;
- another transfer safeguard or lawful exception available under UK law.
You may contact us for more information about the relevant safeguards, subject to lawful confidentiality restrictions.
8. Cookies and similar technologies
Our website may use cookies, pixels, scripts, local storage and similar technologies to operate the shop, remember choices, understand performance, prevent fraud and support advertising.
Strictly necessary and exempt technologies
Some technologies are needed to provide a service you request, such as keeping products in your basket, maintaining checkout security or remembering privacy choices. UK law also permits certain limited, low-risk uses without consent when all requirements for an exemption are met.
Technologies requiring consent
Where consent is legally required, we seek it before using non-essential analytics, advertising or other technologies. You can use the cookie banner or privacy controls available on the store to accept, reject or adjust optional categories.
Browser controls may also allow you to block or delete cookies, but disabling necessary technologies can affect store functions. Cookie choices do not automatically unsubscribe you from marketing emails; use the unsubscribe option in those messages for that purpose.
9. Marketing communications
We may send product news, offers or related marketing when you have consented, or when the UK electronic marketing “soft opt-in” applies to an existing customer and all required conditions have been met.
Where we rely on the soft opt-in, marketing is limited to our own similar products or services, and an easy opt-out is provided when details are collected and in each message.
10. How long we keep personal information
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including contractual, customer service, fraud-prevention, accounting, tax, legal and regulatory needs.
When deciding retention periods, we consider:
- the amount, nature and sensitivity of the information;
- the purposes for which it is used;
- legal, tax, accounting and record-keeping requirements;
- the risk of harm from unauthorised use or disclosure;
- relevant limitation periods and potential disputes;
- whether the information can be deleted or anonymised.
We may retain an opt-out or suppression record for as long as needed to ensure that we do not restart marketing against your wishes.
11. How we protect personal information
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, loss or destruction. These measures may include access controls, secure ecommerce and payment systems, account protections, provider due diligence and procedures for managing security incidents.
No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. You should protect account credentials, use a unique password and contact us promptly if you believe your account or information has been compromised.
12. Your data protection rights
Depending on the circumstances and applicable exemptions, you may have the right to:
- be informed about how your personal information is used;
- request access to your personal information and receive a copy;
- ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
- ask us to erase information in certain circumstances;
- ask us to restrict processing in certain circumstances;
- receive certain information in a portable format and transmit it elsewhere;
- object to processing based on legitimate interests or recognised legitimate interests;
- object at any time to direct marketing, including related profiling;
- withdraw consent at any time where processing relies on consent;
- receive safeguards relating to qualifying solely automated decisions, where applicable;
- make a data protection complaint to us and complain to the ICO.
Rights are not always absolute. We may need to verify your identity and may ask for information needed to locate the relevant records. We normally respond to valid rights requests within one calendar month, subject to extensions or other provisions permitted by law.
Exercising a right is normally free. A fee may be charged, or a request may be refused, only where the law permits, such as for a manifestly unfounded or excessive request.
13. Data protection complaints
You can complain directly to Scooth Pet if you believe we have not handled your personal information in accordance with data protection law.
Send your complaint through our Contact page or email scoothpet@gmail.com. Clearly state that you are making a data protection complaint and explain:
- what you believe happened;
- which information or activity is involved;
- how the issue has affected you;
- the outcome you are seeking;
- any concise supporting evidence that may help us investigate.
We will acknowledge a data protection complaint within 30 days of receipt. Without undue delay, we will take appropriate steps to investigate, keep you informed where necessary and tell you the outcome.
We may request reasonable proof of identity or authority where needed to protect personal information. If somebody complains on your behalf, we may ask for evidence that they are authorised to act for you.
14. Children's information
Our store is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly seek to collect personal information directly from children under 13 for marketing or account creation.
If you believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate involvement from a parent or guardian, please contact us so that we can review the situation and take appropriate action.
15. Automated decisions and profiling
We may use automated tools to support fraud checks, security, advertising measurement, product recommendations and website personalisation.
We do not currently make decisions about customers that produce legal or similarly significant effects based solely on automated processing. If this changes, we will provide the information and safeguards required by applicable law.
16. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this notice when our practices, providers, technology or legal obligations change. The latest version will be published on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.
Where a change is significant, we may provide an additional notice through the website, email or another appropriate channel.
